Sample Teaching

Overview:

​

Beginner I course provides adult language learners a basic introduction and foundation in Mandarin Chinese. This course will cover the Hanyu pinyin phonetic transcription system, as well as the pronunciation and use of many common vocabulary terms and idiomatic expressions.

​

Beginner II Conversational Chinese course provides a review of the previous class as well as covers new topics such as sharing about one’s hobbies, talking about date and time, making appointments on the phone and asking and giving directions.

​

Beginner II Business Chinese course provides adult language learners with skills for use in the business world. The course will cover self introductions, job interviews, talking about one's daily schedule, office interactions, visiting and keeping in touch with clients, and other skills used in a business context.

• Dates and Times:

Beginner I: Mondays, January 23 – April 3 (10 weeks. No class on March 13)  Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm; ​

Beginner II Business Chinese: Wednesdays, January 25 – April 5 (10 weeks. No class on March 15) Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm; 

Beginner II Conversational Chinese: Thursdays, January 26 – April 20 (12 weeks; No class on March 16) Time: 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Overview:

 

Private tutoring or online tutoring is recommended to those:

1)  who find the group class does not fit their schedule;

2)  who need a customized learning plan for a specific learning objective;

3) who are young learners aged 6-17 and need help with their study (Mandarin immersion schoolers, AP Chinese test takers, etc)

Tutoring can be given either online or face-to-face.

​4) who are going to mainland China, Taiwai or Hongkong very soon and need a crash course in Mandarin or Cantonese.
